Two weeks before their wedding, Connie and Sam Bell's venue unexpectedly cancelled on them. A bride's worst nightmare, right? In an effort to cheer her up, her grandmother, Margaret White, said she recently came across her own wedding dress from 1966 and suggested Connie try it on.
She already had a dress, but Connie agreed to go along the fun. What's the harm in a little dress up? Lo and behold, that was the dress she ended up wearing on her wedding day. "I was shocked at how well it fit and how lovely it made me feel," Connie told The Huffington Post . "I tried it on to cheer me up. I had no idea that I would be trying it on to wear on my wedding day, but I knew as soon as I had it on that I wanted to wear it." Our favorite detail of this story? There were bits of confetti tucked away in parts of the dress from White's wedding more than 50 years ago.
Connie and Sam ended up finding a new venue last minute, and don't worry, the dress she purchased didn't go to waste-she slipped into it for the reception, so everything came together.
